Looking for a new twist on traditional goal-setting? Try a vision board!

Visualization is a great way to feel inspired and motivated to achieve your dreams. By vividly envisioning what you want to accomplish, you take yourself one step closer to making it a reality. In fact, some professional and Olympic athletes use visualization to get that gold medal performance they want so badly. That’s how powerful it can be!

Making a vision board is a great tool for visualization. Think about your priorities. What do you want to achieve in the next year? How do you want to feel during the next year? Using magazines (or the internet and a color printer), cut out pictures and quotes that inspire you. These pictures should be relevant to your goals, and they should light you up with excitement. For example, if your goal is to save enough money for a down payment on a house, find a picture of your dream house, and put it front and center on your vision board. Next you can find a picture of your dream kitchen, etc. Do you want to become debt-free? Find a picture that represents ultimate freedom to you, and include that on your vision board. By having these pictures front and center in our daily lives, it keeps us focused on what we want for ourselves.

Use your vision board as a guide, but don’t let dreaming stop you from doing. For every goal represented on your vision board, determine the first step towards achieving it, and take action!

Fun tip: Host a vision-boarding party for friends and family!
