At times, we all feel lost and disconnected from the world around us. It’s easy to get buried in the hustle and bustle of every day life to the point where we may not hear our inner voice, much less be able to listen to it. What are my values? What makes me feel fulfilled? What gives me purpose? Some days we’re simply trying to survive, and if we’re managing depression or anxiety, our sense of connection to ourselves and the world can feel even more elusive. Is there help?

This is where meditation comes into play.

Meditation allows us to sit quietly and listen to our inner selves or feel the difference between doing and just being. It allows for space in our minds and can help us recognize that we are not our thoughts, and we are not the tasks that we accomplish each day. With time, this brings more inner peace and clarity to our lives.

Try this:
1. Download the Calm or Headspace app on your Apple or Android device and listen to a 10 minute guided meditation each day.
2. Take a walk in nature and pay attention to your senses. What do you hear, smell, and see? Can you become completely present? This is meditation too.

If you try one or both of these for a week, do you notice a difference in your life? How so?
